The Aizawl International Half Marathon (AIHM) will return for its second edition on February 14, Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar announced. This year, the event is set to be grander, featuring an extensive talent pool and contributing significantly to Mizoram's expanding sports tourism sector.

The race will kick off and conclude at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, promising to draw record-breaking numbers of participants and spectators, thanks in part to the newly extended railway line to Sairang. Last year's inaugural event saw 1,500 runners from across India, and the upcoming edition is expected to welcome even more, including professional athletes from abroad.

The AIHM aims to promote public health and highlight Mizoram's cultural heritage, creating a permanent spot for itself on the tourism calendar. With a prize pool exceeding Rs 15 lakh, the marathon is more than just a race; it's Mizoram's invitation to the world to experience its natural beauty and hospitality.
