Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the revered former Indian cricket captain, has expressed his reluctance to step into the commentary box. The 44-year-old, who led India to three ICC trophies, believes the role demands an intricate balance of game description and critiquing, which he finds challenging.
Dhoni admits that memorizing statistics, often crucial in commentary, is not his strong suit. This limitation, he says, further deters him from taking up what many cricketers find a natural post-retirement path. Despite retiring in 2020, Dhoni has limited his cricketing engagements to playing in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings.
Known for his decision-making prowess, Dhoni shared insights about his communication style, noting a preference for in-person conversations over phone interactions. He humorously acknowledged his awkwardness on calls, a skill he jests about improving yet is content he hasn't.
