Initially life-threatening, his condition has now stabilized, as confirmed by captain Suryakumar Yadav and the BCCI. Iyer is in communication with teammates and showing signs of improvement.
Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer is reported to be in a stable condition after suffering a lacerated spleen during a match against Australia. The injury, initially deemed life-threatening, occurred in the third one-day international when he fell awkwardly while taking a catch.
Twenty20 captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed Iyer's improved state, noting that the batsman has been in communication with his teammates, which suggests his recovery is progressing as expected. Iyer’s spleen injury, sustained during India's victory, required hospitalization and close monitoring.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement on the matter, indicating a repeat scan showed significant improvement in Iyer's condition. The cricket board remains optimistic about his recovery, while all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been declared fit following a quadriceps injury.
