As India prepares to face Australia in the T20I series beginning Wednesday, India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, delivered a promising health update regarding Shreyas Iyer. Speaking to the media, Yadav confirmed that Iyer is recovering well after a peculiar injury sustained during an ODI match in Sydney. Praising his teammate, Yadav noted that 'rare things happen with rare talent.'
Iyer suffered the injury while executing a remarkable diving catch, but landed unfavorably on his ribs. Despite the immediate concern, Yadav assured fans that Iyer is in stable condition and in communication with his teammates. 'He is talking and everything is normal,' said Yadav, highlighting support from the BCCI and medical staff.
Yadav also commented on Nitish Kumar Reddy, who missed the final ODI due to his own injury. The captain mentioned Reddy's participation in training, which suggests he is on the path to recovery. Reinforced by captaincy responsibilities after the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Yadav remains focused on leading a talented squad including notable players like Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav.
