The injury occurred during India's recent one-day international victory when Iyer fell awkwardly while taking a catch, resulting in a lacerated spleen.
Initially deemed life-threatening, Iyer's condition has since improved, with Suryakumar assuring reporters ahead of the upcoming Twenty20 series that the batsman is recovering well. Communication with Iyer has resumed, indicating his stable health status.
Additionally, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has recovered from a quadriceps injury ahead of the series. Suryakumar noted Reddy was fit after engaging in light running and batting practice.
