The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step to simplify land conversion processes with the introduction of an online payment mechanism. This system, integrated with the Building Permission Management System (BPMS), enables users to pay the conversion premium online, instantly reflecting the details on land title documents.
The move aims to eliminate the need for citizens to visit government offices for non-agricultural land conversion, thus enhancing transparency and efficiency. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule emphasized the ease brought by the BPMS platform, enabling access to development permissions and building plan approvals under one system.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to digitize land-related processes, aligning with Maharashtra's goal to improve ease of doing business in the state. Upgrades to systems like AutoDCR are underway to further streamline approvals for expansive development projects.
