Libya's Subul al-Salam Battalion has been identified by a United Nations report as facilitating the movement of Colombian mercenaries to support Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the military. The battalion, part of the Libyan National Army, has provided access to weapons and fuel, exacerbating the conflict in Sudan.

The report, which spans from October 2024 to February 2026, was released after the third anniversary of the war's start in April 2023. It highlights how Libyan facilities, including key transit points, have been used to modify vehicles and transport fighters, strengthening the RSF operations in the region.

Humanitarian consequences of this conflict are severe, with estimates reporting over 59,000 fatalities. While accusations have arisen regarding external support from the UAE, both the Emirati government and Libyan commanders have denied these claims, as the international community grapples with the ongoing crisis.
