The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency has reported a maritime attack involving a tanker near Oman. The attack, which occurred 20 nautical miles northeast of Oman, involved two gunboats allegedly associated with Iran's Revolutionary Guards opening fire on the vessel.
Despite the dramatic incident, the UKMTO confirmed that the tanker and its crew were unharmed. Notably, the gunboats reportedly fired without issuing any radio challenge, highlighting the volatile situation in which the tanker crew found themselves.
In a separate development, a container ship in the same region was struck by an unidentified projectile, causing damage to some containers but fortunately resulting in no injuries or environmental harm. The UKMTO is monitoring the situation closely, reflecting rising regional tensions.
