The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has set a new precedent as the first water utility in India to obtain the ISO 50001:2018 certification. The accolade, which was issued by Bureau Veritas on April 14, acknowledges BWSSB's exemplary energy management systems.

This certification highlights BWSSB's proficient operation and maintenance of bulk water supply pumping stations at critical locations including TK Halli, Harohalli, and Tataguni. It also covers essential support functions at its head office, Cauvery Bhavan, ensuring a continuous water supply to Greater Bengaluru.

Upon receiving the certification, BWSSB officials, including Chairman Ram Prasath Manohar, met with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar to present the achievement. Shivakumar commended the BWSSB for setting a national standard in water service management, aligning with Bengaluru's vision to evolve into a globally sustainable, climate-resilient city.
