In a statement shared on social media platform X, he emphasized the pride of highlighting Assam's biodiversity and research advancements through the find of Cyrtodactylus jayadityai.

Chief Minister Sarma expressed delight at the integration of conservation initiatives with scientific expertise resulting in unprecedented discoveries. Although he hailed the species discovery, he did not divulge its specific location.

Geckos, small and mostly carnivorous lizards, have a widespread presence across the globe, occupying terrains on all continents except Antarctica, further emphasizing this specimen's importance to the region's biological diversity.
