Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma strongly criticized the TMC government in West Bengal, headed by Mamata Banerjee, during an election rally in Alipurduar district, close to the Assam border.

Sarma accused Banerjee of allowing infiltration from Bangladesh, which he claimed led to demographic changes, with a decline in the Hindu population and a rise in the number of Bangladeshi Muslims entering West Bengal.

He contrasted this with BJP's policy in Assam and Tripura and confidently predicted a sweeping BJP victory in the northeastern state's elections, which are set for April 23 and 29, with results on May 4.
