Authorities in Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, issued a medium-danger avalanche warning on Saturday, advising the public to exercise extreme caution over the next 24 hours. The warning pertains to areas above 2,400 meters in the central Kashmir district, according to official sources.
In response to the threat, residents, tourists, and nomadic communities are urged to follow all safety advisories issued by the district administration. Individuals are strongly discouraged from entering avalanche-prone zones, such as slopes, hilly terrains, and other elevated regions.
This prudent advisory comes after a tragic incident on March 27, when multiple avalanches resulted in seven fatalities and five injuries along the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal. Public cooperation is deemed essential for ensuring safety in the area.
