In a significant push for infrastructure development, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, seeking approval for major projects in Haridwar.

The Chief Minister requested funds amounting to Rs 325 crore for the first phase and approximately Rs 425 crore for the second phase, aiming at underground cabling and system automation in the Ganga Corridor area, in preparation for the 2027 Kumbh Mela.

Additionally, Dhami advocated for the beautification of Haridwar's ghats, enhanced urban infrastructure, and the expansion of the Regional Rapid Transit System to connect Meerut to Haridwar. Appreciation was expressed through a traditional token, Badri cow ghee, for Khattar's supportive stance. A month prior, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated various welfare projects in the region, emphasizing Haridwar's significance to the nation.
