In a tragic incident, a four-year-old girl named Drishti Rawat lost her life to a leopard attack in the Pauri district of Uttarakhand, officials confirmed on Friday.
The attack took place around 9 pm on Thursday in Bhatkot village, when the child was dining with her sister and grandmother. The leopard snatched her and fled towards the forest.
Villagers found the child's body two kilometers away and protested against the authorities, demanding higher officials' presence. Responding swiftly, officials arrived to conduct a post-mortem and assure assistance. Schools in the area will close as officials work to contain the threat.
