Uttarakhand has raised its commercial LPG cylinder quota from 40% to 66%, making 6,310 units available daily, officials announced Friday. State Secretary for Food and Civil Supplies, Anand Swarup, highlighted that a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) now governs transparent and priority-based distribution among varied consumer categories.
The SOP outlines allocations: tourism-linked hotels and resorts receive 1,500 cylinders (24%), while restaurants and roadside eateries get 2,000 cylinders (32%). Another 300 cylinders (5%) are set aside for government guest houses, with 200 cylinders each (3%) for dairy units, hostels, homestays, and self-help group establishments.
A total of 660 cylinders (10%) are allotted for weddings, and 1,250 cylinders (20%) for key industrial sectors like pharmaceuticals and textiles. Swaroop stressed the need for verified applications for wedding allocations, ensuring efficient distribution by gas distributors.
