The Public Works Department is undertaking an innovative project with the construction of a large decorative bird enclosure at Gate No. 6 of the Delhi Secretariat. This installation aims to introduce a calming ambience through the gentle sound of birds to improve the quality of shared spaces.

Crafted from a mix of three types of marble and mild steel, the structure promises both durability and visual appeal. Officials say the aviary, situated in an open space beneath a road ramp, is expected to be completed within a month. This project is part of a broader series of maintenance efforts focusing on enhancing both structural upkeep and employee comfort at the complex.

As part of broader goals for modernization, the government is also considering a proposal for a new secretariat complex featuring twin 35-storey towers at Indraprastha Estate. This new facility is envisioned to offer modern infrastructure and integrated facilities. However, despite a consultancy tender being floated in December 2021, progress remains slow.
