Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, announced an innovative transport initiative for Thane: the ambitious pod taxi project. Intended to alleviate last-mile connectivity issues, the project will employ cutting-edge, driverless electric vehicles running on elevated tracks, promising swift and modern commuting solutions for residents.
Speaking at a local event, Shinde highlighted that the pod taxi service aligns with other key infrastructure projects in Thane, including the Metro, Coastal Road, and Thane-Borivali twin-tunnel. He revealed that the foundation stone for the Ghodbunder area pod taxi project would be laid soon.
Shinde further announced plans for a 'Twin Tower' in the city. Commending journalists for their dedication during crises, he expressed gratitude to the civic body for refurbishing the press room at the Thane Municipal Corporation. Despite urban growth, Shinde noted, Thane has successfully preserved its natural greenery.
