A significant fire erupted on Wednesday in Sector 22, one of the city's busiest commercial areas, as confirmed by local officials. Luckily, no casualties were reported despite the fire's spread to adjacent shops.
The incident started on a shop's first floor and quickly extended to neighboring establishments, necessitating the deployment of over 15 fire tenders, with more potentially required.
Fire services were also sourced from Mohali, Punjab, due to chemicals in some shops intensifying the flames. Sector 22 is well-known for its electronics and mobile phone outlets, drawing large daily crowds.
