Tragedy struck on Wednesday as two devastating fires erupted in Indore and Delhi, claiming the lives of 17 individuals. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sorrow over these incidents.
In response, he announced an ex gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. The financial assistance will be sourced from the PM National Relief Fund.
Eight fatalities occurred in Indore due to a blaze caused by a sudden explosion at an electric vehicle charging point, affecting a three-storey house. Meanwhile, in Delhi's Palam area, a massive fire claimed the lives of nine family members. Modi extended his condolences and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
