In a tragic turn of events, two elephants have been found dead in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, according to a forest official on Thursday.
The deceased animals were located in the Kurkut river within the Gharghoda forest range and retrieved by a team led by the divisional forest officer.
Authorities have launched an investigation, calling in a dog squad and personnel from the electricity department to assist, aiming to determine the cause of death after post-mortem analysis. This incident adds to the alarming report of 38 elephant and nine tiger deaths due to reasons like electrocution and poaching in the past 26 months.
