In a decisive move, the Chhattisgarh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has sanctioned a series of legislative drafts aimed at inducing socio-economic reform. The cabinet approved the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Bill, 2026, focused on curbing forced religious conversions.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao highlighted other pertinent decisions, including a state subsidy scheme for renewable energy projects through the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA). Subsidies will cover solar high-mast and domestic biogas plants, fostering sustainable energy development.
The cabinet also enacted amendments to planning laws and endorsed the Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board Bill, 2026 to facilitate fair recruitment. A key fiscal policy adjustment involves lifting the additional cess on property registration, previously added to support the now-defunct Rajiv Gandhi Mitan Club scheme.
