Devastating Tornadoes Wreak Havoc in Southern Michigan
Tornadoes in southern Michigan led to the deaths of four people and injured over a dozen. The storms destroyed homes, caused power outages affecting hundreds, and led to massive structural damage across multiple counties, prompting the state emergency operations to monitor the situation closely.
Southern Michigan was struck by deadly tornadoes and strong storms that killed at least four people and injured more than a dozen, officials reported Friday. The severe weather events devastated homes and left hundreds without electricity.
Social media footage showed tornadoes tearing roofs off buildings and debris swirling through the air in the towns of Three Rivers and Union City, while local media displayed images of wreaked structures and fallen trees.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer activated the State Emergency Operations Center as utility poles and transformers were damaged, particularly impacting the north side of Union Lake, where repair efforts are expected to take several days.
