Vedanta Group has set an ambitious target to elevate women's representation within its workforce from the current 23% to 35% through its new initiative, #HerAtTheCore. This nationwide campaign, accompanied by a LinkedIn hiring drive, invites women to explore career possibilities in the fields of mining, metals, oil and gas, power, and technology.
According to Vedanta, the Annual Survey of Industries reveals that women comprise around 18% of direct employment across industries for the 2023-24 fiscal year. However, in core sectors such as mining and metals, female participation remains at a low 6%. The campaign emphasizes India's potential economic growth through strengthening its role in the global energy transition and advanced manufacturing.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director of Vedanta Ltd and Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited, stated that the company's growth goal is not only to boost the number of female employees but to transform organizational systems to foster women's success in core industries.
