Revitalizing Democracy: The New Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Complex

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary visited the construction site of the new Jammu and Kashmir Assembly complex on Monday, affirming its slated completion by October next year. The project, with a budget of Rs 113 crore, promises modern facilities and is inspired by the new Parliament structure.

Officials detailed the facility, highlighting parking space for up to 95 vehicles in the lower basement, supplementary parking in the upper basement, two canteens, a wellness center, extensive seating, and media accommodations. The Assembly hall will cater to 130 members, expandable to 142.

Choudhary stressed that the initiative had been delayed for years but is now given priority by both the Speaker and the Chief Minister. The heritage site will be transformed into a technologically advanced setting for legislators, with strict quality measures and accountability enforced to prevent corrupt practices.
