The Jammu and Kashmir government is set to undertake a comprehensive survey on drug abuse across 10 districts. The initiative aligns with the launch of a community rehabilitation program, 'Circle of Care,' aimed at bolstering support for de-addiction counsellors in every village.

Health Minister Sakina Itoo emphasized the state's commitment to combating substance use disorders by increasing addiction treatment facilities and supporting frontline counselors. Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has the highest number of such facilities in India, offering over 1.5 lakh patient consultations so far.

In addition to addressing substance abuse, the government is also enforcing strict food safety measures. Recent efforts have led to thousands of food safety inspections and the seizure of 57 tonnes of unsafe food products, alongside numerous prosecutions and mobile testing initiatives to ensure public health.
