Cyclone Montha Ravages Andhra Pradesh: Rising Costs and Human Toll
Cyclone Montha recently struck Andhra Pradesh, causing the deaths of three individuals and significant damage. The government is providing financial aid to affected families and assessing the destruction, which includes crop and infrastructure damage. The cyclone 'Montha' has wreaked havoc across Andhra Pradesh, claiming three lives and causing significant infrastructure damage. The state government, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased.
Preliminary estimates presented to the government reveal widespread destruction, with 87,000 hectares of crops and extensive damage to roads and bridges. Authorities are diligently working to evaluate losses and provide aid to nearly 78,796 affected farmers.
In response, emergency services, including the setup of rehabilitation centers, medical camps, and restoration of essential services like transport and water supply, have been intensified as the focus shifts to recovery and rebuilding efforts.
