In a startling incident on Wednesday, two individuals were injured when a major portion of a three-storey building collapsed during its demolition in Mahim, Mumbai. The event, which transpired at the Johnson & Johnson building on Senapati Bapat Marg, was reported at 1.48 pm, according to civic officials.

The unexpected collapse occurred while a private contractor was using a backhoe loader for demolition work. Without warning, the first and second floors gave way, sending debris cascading onto a loader machine and a nearby parked vehicle, officials reported. Two young men, Shaharukh Khan and Mohammad Ayub, both 24, were injured in the mishap and taken to a local hospital where their conditions are stable.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has since cordoned off the surrounding area as a safety measure. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the structural failure.
