In a significant crackdown, the Customs Department at Mumbai's international airport seized hydroponic weed valued at Rs 12.4 crore. This operation, conducted over four days with intelligence-based intercepts, targeted passengers arriving from Bangkok.
Among the contraband, hydroponic weed hidden in trolley bags was the highlight, leading to the arrest of six passengers under the NDPS Act, 1985, revealing an intricate smuggling racket.
Additionally, valuables including 40 iPhones, 30 laptops, and other goods worth Rs 56 lakh were confiscated from three Sharjah-bound passengers, signaling ongoing smuggling inquiries under the Customs Act.
