Cyclone Montha Unleashes Torrential Rains Across Telangana
Severe cyclonic storm Montha caused heavy rainfall in Telangana, affecting several districts including Warangal and Hyderabad. A red alert was issued warning of continuing severe weather, leading to educational institution closures and train disruptions due to waterlogged tracks.

Cyclonic storm Montha wreaked havoc in Telangana on Wednesday, bringing torrential rains across various districts including Warangal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, and Hyderabad. As a result, the state is on high alert, grappling with the aftermath and ongoing severe weather conditions.
The Telangana Development Planning Society reported that areas like Kalleda in Warangal and Addagudur in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri received significant rainfall measuring 91 mm in just two and a half hours. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert until October 30, forecasting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall paired with thunderstorms and gusty winds in districts such as Jangaon, Hanumakonda, and Warangal.
Amid these conditions, authorities have declared closures for educational institutions in several affected districts. Additionally, train services have been impeded by waterlogging at key railway stations, leading to disruptions in transportation. Cyclone Montha had previously crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast near Narasapur, intensifying its impact as it moved over Telangana.
