Cyclone 'Montha' is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm, according to Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority's Managing Director, Prakhar Jain. As rainfall and strong gales batter coastal districts, officials call for heightened vigilance and adherence to safety advisories.

The cyclone, traveling at 18 km per hour, was 560 km off Visakhapatnam by Monday evening and is predicted to cross near Kakinada on October 28. In anticipation, the government has activated a response plan, deploying teams and drones for real-time monitoring.

Heavy rains have already led to road and river disruptions, posing challenges for residents. Additional measures in affected regions include evacuation and traffic diversions. Officials stress readiness and community safety, urging the public to stay indoors and take precautionary measures.
