Northern Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, experienced heavy rainfall on Monday due to the presence of Cyclone Montha in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone is expected to intensify and make landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Tamil Nadu authorities have stated they are prepared for the storm, with Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin assuring that major damage is not expected. Rainfall is predicted to continue, but it is anticipated to lessen over the next 10 days.
Officials advise caution to fishermen due to high winds and rough seas. Additional warnings have been issued for several districts, with some areas already experiencing rainfall significantly above normal levels this October.
