In a dramatic turn of events, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a major setback as seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs, including prominent figures Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak, announced their resignation on Friday to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This exodus highlights growing internal dissent within the AAP.
Addressing a press conference, Chadha, alongside Pathak and Ashok Mittal, declared that over two-thirds of AAP's Rajya Sabha members have defected, citing a departure from the party's foundational principles. Chadha, who recently lost his position as AAP's deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, expressed his discontent with the leadership under Arvind Kejriwal.
The move marks a significant realignment within the Indian political landscape, suggesting a shift in loyalties as AAP faces increasing criticism. The Enforcement Directorate's recent raids on entities linked to Mittal have further intensified the political drama surrounding this unfolding story.
