In a fiery critique, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betraying Punjab's interests following a significant split within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Mann alleged that the same political tactics used to destabilize other parties, like those of Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena, were at play. Mann asserted that the seven MPs defecting to the BJP fail to represent the interests of the Punjabi people, dismissing them as 'traitors' who will gain nothing from their new affiliation.
At a press conference, notable AAP MPs Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Ashok Mittal announced a dramatic rift, stating that two-thirds of their Rajya Sabha members had opted to merge with the BJP. Chadha declared that the decision was driven by a deviation from AAP's core ideology, suggesting that the party now prioritizes personal gain over national interests.
Expressing his disillusionment, Chadha recounted his personal sacrifices for AAP and criticized its current trajectory, asserting he felt 'the right man in the wrong party.' The announcement closely follows Chadha's ousting as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha, further underscoring the internal turbulence within AAP.
