Young Swimmers Conquer Arabian Sea Challenge

Two young swimmers from Thane have made history by completing a grueling open water challenge in the Arabian Sea. Vanshika Girish Iyer, aged 14, and Swaraj Sneha Gaurav Phadnis, 12, swam from the Atal Setu in Navi Mumbai to Pirwadi Beach in Raigad, covering a distance of 21 kilometers.

The duo braved strong currents and shifting tides, starting at 3:10am. Vanshika finished in 5 hours and 14 minutes, while Swaraj completed the swim in 4 hours and 57 minutes. Their achievement has been acknowledged by the Maharashtra State Amateur Aquatic Association as a first on this route.

Vanshika and Swaraj trained under the guidance of former international swimmers and awardees Arti Pradhan and Narendra Pawar. Both have extensive experience in open water swimming, with Vanshika previously conquering the Palk Strait. Their latest feat adds to their growing reputation as promising young athletes.
