Call for Extended Voting Hours Amidst Long Queues

On Thursday, TVK chief Vijay made an urgent appeal to the Election Commission, seeking a two-hour extension of polling time until 8 PM for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Vijay cited long queues and delayed voting processes as reasons for the request.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Vijay emphasized the necessity of deploying emergency public transport services. He believes this measure would help more voters reach polling stations across the 234 constituencies.
Vijay has pointed out reports of voters experiencing lengthy delays at polling booths, which could significantly impact voter turnout. He recommends appointing supervisory officers to ensure voting is conducted smoothly and without unnecessary waiting periods at the booths.
