Mamata Banerjee Under Fire: Symbol of Anarchy or Political Struggle?

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has labeled West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a symbol of anarchy following the Supreme Court's concerns about her intervention during an Enforcement Directorate (ED) search at I-PAC's office. The BJP claims her 'jungle raj' will end after the forthcoming assembly elections.

The court's comments emerge as the BJP alleges that Banerjee disrupted a January 8 ED raid in Kolkata. Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and N.V. Anjaria remarked that a Chief Minister intervening in investigations can imperil democracy. These observations came during a session where Menaka Guruswamy questioned the dispute's state-Centre nature.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia insisted that Banerjee resign due to her alleged obstructionist actions. As West Bengal prepares for its first phase of elections, BJP predicts substantial political shifts. Out of the 294 assembly seats, the initial phase covers 152 seats across north Bengal and other districts, with results expected on May 4.
