Amidst a political furore, Congress MP KC Venugopal has stepped forward to defend party president Mallikarjun Kharge following his controversial remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the campaign's last day in Tamil Nadu, Kharge referred to Modi as a 'terrorist,' a statement that drew sharp reactions.
Venugopal accused the ruling party of fabricating a controversy out of the incident, alleging, "They are trying to turn a non-issue into an issue." He elaborated that Kharge's original assertion was that Modi uses government bodies like the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation to intimidate adversaries, not that he labeled Modi a terrorist.
During the rally, Kharge appealed to the philosophies of prominent leaders like Periyar, Dr. Ambedkar, and Annadurai, to criticize BJP's policies, which he claimed undermine democratic principles. As campaign rhetoric escalated, Tamil Nadu prepared for upcoming elections, highlighting escalating political tensions.
