AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami declared on Monday that his party will conduct a caste survey in Tamil Nadu if they secure victory in the upcoming April 23 Assembly elections. He assured voters that AIADMK's announced welfare schemes would be implemented.
Speaking at a rally in Jalagandapuram, Salem district, Palaniswami criticized the ruling DMK government for the steep rise in food prices, citing an increase from Rs 40 to Rs 75 per kilo for raw rice. He accused the DMK of neglecting measures to curb inflation, affecting the poor and middle-class residents severely.
Addressing additional grievances, he alleged that the current regime has raised taxes on essentials like electricity and water. To mitigate these burdens, Palaniswami promised a direct deposit of Rs 10,000 into citizens' bank accounts while highlighting AIADMK's 297 election promises awaiting implementation.
