In a significant move to bolster diplomatic relations, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan is set to begin a two-day visit to Sri Lanka on Sunday. This trip underscores India's commitment to strengthening ties with the island nation.
While in Colombo, Vice President Radhakrishnan is expected to engage with key Sri Lankan leaders, including President Anura Kumara Disanayaka and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that this is the first bilateral visit of an Indian Vice President to Sri Lanka.
The visit reflects India's broader diplomatic initiatives, notably the MAHASAGAR vision, which stands for 'Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.' This vision was first articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Mauritius. It is a testament to India's ongoing efforts to foster growth and security within the Global South.
