Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra and a prominent BJP leader, has expressed optimism regarding his party's prospects in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Asserting that the public seeks a shift from the longstanding Trinamool Congress (TMC) rule, Fadnavis voiced hopes for a sweeping BJP victory.

Speaking to ANI, Fadnavis noted that Bengal’s populace is eager for change, free from the fear they experienced in 2021. He suggested that BJP’s potential governance would prioritize eliminating 'anti-national' elements and criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led government for allegedly altering the state's demography through illegal immigration.

Fadnavis dismissed claims labeling the BJP as alien to the state by recalling its roots connected to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a native of Bengal. Additionally, he challenged the TMC's economic policies, claiming a massive departure of industries under their rule. He pledged a revival of Bengal's industrial sector and job market under BJP leadership, with elections set for April 23 and 29, and results anticipated on May 4.
