On Friday, the DMK announced that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin will not campaign together for the upcoming state elections on April 23, due to separate commitments.
Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will commence his election campaign in Chennai this Saturday as part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, which is contesting from 28 seats.
Amid allegations raised by BJP's K Annamalai that Rahul Gandhi intends for the DMK alliance to lose, DMK's organizing secretary R S Bharathi clarified that the leaders' individual schedules prevented joint appearances. He further accused the Election Commission of bias towards BJP and reported unethical activities by BJP and AIADMK involving voter data collection.
