Senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday issued a direct challenge to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asking him to be present in Kolkata on the day of the vote count for the upcoming West Bengal polls. Banerjee accused the BJP of intimidating TMC workers and expressed confidence in Mamata Banerjee's chances for a fourth term.

Speaking at an election rally in Purba Medinipur, Banerjee claimed that the BJP was threatening party members and using central agencies to influence electoral outcomes. 'If you have the courage, be in Kolkata on the day of counting,' said Banerjee, asserting that no threats would deter the people of Bengal.

He further accused the BJP of maligning Bengalis and framed the election as a battle between 'Delhi's power' and 'people of Bengal.' Banerjee called on voters to deliver a decisive mandate for the TMC, ensuring continuation of welfare schemes like Lakshmir Bhandar.
