The ruling NDA is struggling to secure the required two-thirds majority in Parliament to pass the women's reservation bills. While holding 293 members in the Lok Sabha, they lack the full 360 votes needed. To succeed, they must rally support or hope for opposition abstentions.

Currently, the NDA has 141 supporters in the Rajya Sabha. With the opposition holding 83 votes, additional support from parties like BRS and independents is crucial. The Constitution amendment bill's passage demands a special majority, underlining the strategic importance of each vote.

Prime Minister Modi appealed in the Lok Sabha for cross-party support, even offering to share the credit. Following heated debates, the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill and other related bills were introduced, yet dubiety remains about garnering adequate approval for these legislative changes.
