In an intensive meeting on Wednesday, key Congress figures, including AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and state president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, deliberated on the party's strategic response to impending electoral delimitation alongside Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Integral to these discussions was the appointment of working presidents, secretaries, and fulfilling other organizational roles, as confirmed by Congress insiders.
Moreover, officials focused on filling posts in state-run federations with appointments pending orders expected shortly. These moves occur alongside an upcoming special parliamentary session from April 16 to 18, tackling draft amendments to the Women's Reservation Act intending a 33% female quota in Lok Sabha and state assemblies by 2029.
In anticipation of such legislative changes, Congress seeks to raise the number of Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 850, aligning with the necessary delimitation procedures grounded in the latest census data, thereby setting the stage for a paradigm shift in Indian electoral landscape.
