Patna witnessed a significant political shift as Samrat Choudhary was sworn in as Bihar's first BJP Chief Minister, a move from a supportive to a leading role in governance for the saffron party. His oath was administered by Governor Syed Ata Hasnain at Lok Bhavan.
Alongside Choudhary, JD(U) stalwarts Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav assumed office as Deputy Chief Ministers. This change followed Nitish Kumar's resignation, concluding his 20-year tenure as state's head. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence in Choudhary's leadership, highlighting his service dedication and grassroots experience.
The new governance team has retained and reallocated various vital portfolios, indicating a strategic approach to development. The absence of Dalit and female representation in the cabinet has raised concern, with expectations for further inclusivity in future expansions to align with the state's diverse demographic.
