Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to abandon protests against the proposed delimitation exercise. He recommends that DMK party MPs bring the issue to the Parliament for discussion instead.
Highlighting that the exercise is national, not just limited to Tamil Nadu, Athawale encourages Stalin to back the women's reservation amendments bill. The Minister warns that a failure to support the bill could negatively impact DMK's standing with women voters in the upcoming election.
Athawale refutes the claim that Tamil Nadu would lose Lok Sabha seats due to delimitation, suggesting that concerns be formally addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and raised in both houses of Parliament. He emphasizes the importance of the women's reservation bill, which aims to increase Lok Sabha seats for women, as a priority over protests.
