Chief Minister M K Stalin has declared April 16 as the day for a statewide black flag protest in Tamil Nadu, denouncing the proposed delimitation exercise by the central government. Stalin asserts that this move threatens the state's political strength and has warned of grave consequences if Tamil Nadu's concerns are ignored.
In a virtual emergency meeting with DMK MPs and district secretaries, Stalin described the delimitation plan as a 'massive, historic injustice' against Tamil Nadu and the southern states. He questioned if this move was a punishment for the southern states' contribution to India's progress and highlighted the anger it has sparked in the region.
Stalin has called for a united front among southern states, urging all political parties and MPs to protect the region's interests. He cautioned that ignoring Tamil Nadu's voice could lead to severe repercussions, including mass agitations similar to those led by the DMK in the 1950s and 1960s.
