Congress Accuses Modi Government of Shelving Caste Census for Manuvadi Mindset

The Congress party has levied accusations against the Modi administration, claiming the government is attempting to avoid conducting a caste census due to its 'Manuvadi mindset'. According to Anil 'JaiHind' Yadav, the chairperson of Congress' OBC Department, this avoidance is rooted in a reluctance to reserve seats for OBC women in Parliament.

Yadav highlighted that the Modi government appears to be dragging its feet to delay the implementation of women's reservations until 2029, based on the 2011 census. He criticized the reliance on outdated demographic data, which he claims undermines efforts to ensure adequate representation for OBC women.

Critics within the INDIA bloc urged immediate enactment of the women’s reservation law by 2024. However, with changes purported in the upcoming Parliament session, Congress fears it is an attempt to sideline the caste census, which they argue will erode democratic representation for OBC women.
