In a significant political development, the BRS clinched chairperson roles in the Kyatanpally and Ibrahimpatnam municipalities in Telangana over the weekend. Due to Congress councillors opting out of the vote, BRS leader G Sandhya Rani gained the top post in Kyatanpally, partnered by CPI's M Sarita as Vice Chairperson.
Prior to the election, BRS and CPI councillors isolated themselves, reportedly to evade any attempts of poaching by the ruling Congress party. Their commitment bore fruit over a month later, as they celebrated their roles as a win for the electorate's voice.
Trouble brewed in Khanapur, resulting in a postponed chairperson vote due to allegiance disputes. Former BRS MLA Balka Suman's arrest, linked to riots, further highlighted the tense political atmosphere. This coincided with Congress securing major wins across various municipalities.
