Mofakkarul Islam, a former candidate from AIMIM, was arrested at Bagdogra airport on charges of orchestrating a blockade that trapped seven judicial officers in Malda's Kaliachak area. His arrest has sparked political controversy, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accusing opposition parties of engineering the unrest.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been called in to investigate the incident following a Supreme Court directive. The agency is probing whether the violence was spontaneous or part of a larger conspiracy to disrupt electoral procedures during the Special Intensive Revision exercise.

Nineteen cases have been filed, and 35 individuals, including another ISF candidate, have been arrested. As the investigation continues, political blame games intensify, with various parties pointing fingers and distancing themselves from Mofakkarul's actions.
